Synesthesia - from the Ancient Greek syn, "together," and aisthesis, "sensation" - is a neurologically based phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.

Over 2006 J. Wijn, D. Sleutjes, R. Heijnen and F. Honkoop formed the band Synesthesia. In 2007 N. Hermkens joined as singer. 2008 saw the first performances. Early 2009 MJS joined the band to reinforce Synesthesia and replace R. Heijnen after leaving the band in December 2008.

Later in 2010 H. Hermes and T. v. Aarle joined our group on bass and keyboards, and in 2013 Paul Smolders replaced Jeroen on guitars

Synesthesia has an sonic output of guitar oriented progressive rock, with alternative, symphonic and ambient incense. With influences from various regions of modern rockmusic, Synesthesia envisions to fuse the best of several worlds and make it explode.

Started singing at the age of 8. Luckily for him, he changed, and so did his musical influences.
Was singing in a party band, a folkmetal band, even thought of starting a solo carreer. Now with Synesthesia and being coached by Alfons Verreijt his music-life just turned a whole lot more interesting...

Started out on drums at age 16, and picked up a guitar a year later and has been playing ever since. Played drums in Outrage and former band Silver Dawn. Also writes tunes for the band. Very much into progressive rock!
